Personal profile
Research Interests
Across a broad portfolio of projects, the author advances sustainable energy systems, urban mobility, and smart grid applications in equatorial and developing contexts. The work integrates multicriteria decision analysis to select optimal electric bus models and charging infrastructure, regional energy planning with LEAP for decarbonisation pathways, and data-driven fraud detection in electricity consumption. It also explores grid-embedded renewables, urban solar potential, and hydrogen as an energy vector, complemented by building energy efficiency, net-zero energy envisioning, and the integration of PV with electric mobility. Methodologies include PROMETHEE/TOPSIS decision analysis, HOMER Pro for microgrid sizing, SAR and clustering frameworks for demand profiling, TRNSYS simulations for domestic hot water, and multi-disciplinary modeling combining GIS, LiDAR, SAM, and ArchiCAD/DesignBuilder. Collectively, the research demonstrates robust, replicable frameworks for evaluating renewable deployment, energy storage, electricity market barriers, and policy levers to accelerate decarbonisation, while delivering practical insights for Cuenca, Ecuador and similar urban contexts. The impact lies in actionable guidance for city planners and policymakers to optimise routes, infrastructures, and investments toward sustainable mobility, resilient grids, and energy-efficient buildings.
