Research Interests

Recent research:
The research focuses on advancing the stability, reliability, and efficiency of modern electrical power systems through advanced optimization and computational modeling. A significant portion of the work addresses voltage stability and power quality, utilizing innovative indices and artificial intelligence to optimize the placement and sizing of distributed generation, reactive power compensation (SVC, D-STATCOM), and flexible AC transmission systems (FACTS). The methodology integrates mixed-integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) and heuristic algorithms to solve complex operational challenges, including contingency management, transmission expansion planning, and optimal power flow under stochastic conditions. Furthermore, the research explores the integration of renewable energy sources and virtual power plants, emphasizing the development of resilient, weather-aware frameworks for reliability assessment. Advanced data analytics, including machine learning and bibliometric analysis, are employed to monitor system performance, predict demand, and enhance grid observability through optimal PMU deployment. The work also contributes to the development of control strategies for microgrids and demand-side management, ensuring robust operation against physical and cybernetic threats while facilitating the transition toward smarter, more sustainable energy infrastructures.

Key Topics:
  • Voltage stability and power quality assessment
  • Optimal power flow and system optimization
  • Contingency analysis and grid resilience
  • Distributed generation and renewable energy integration
  • Artificial intelligence and machine learning in power systems
  • Transmission expansion planning and network topology
