Research Interests

Recent research:
The research focuses on advancing sustainable solid waste management and environmental engineering practices, with a particular emphasis on circular economy models. Key efforts include the characterization and optimization of waste streams, such as the assessment of landfill biogas potential through leachate recirculation and modeling, as well as the evaluation of hazardous and industrial waste management, including construction paints, textile waste, and rubber tires. The work explores innovative treatment solutions, such as vermicomposting for organic waste and the promotion of recycling for aluminum and other materials to mitigate environmental impacts. Furthermore, the research addresses the intersection of waste management with public health and social behavior, analyzing how institutional and educational interventions can improve waste separation and reduction. Additional contributions include the study of soil quality in agricultural contexts, specifically monitoring heavy metal concentrations, and the development of technical methodologies for drinking water treatment and water quality management, integrating pedagogical approaches to support community outreach and environmental education.

Key Topics:
  • Solid waste management
  • Circular economy and recycling
  • Environmental impact assessment
  • Landfill biogas and renewable energy
  • Organic waste treatment and vermicomposting
  • Water quality and treatment engineering
  • Soil contamination and heavy metals
  • Environmental education
