Recent research:
This body of work investigates infectious disease epidemiology, diagnostic methods, and biomarker associations to inform public health interventions. The research includes meta-analytic evaluation of IL-28B genetic polymorphisms and their potential role in susceptibility to HTLV-1–related diseases, highlighting the challenges of heterogeneity and the need for harmonized genetic–clinical data. It also emphasizes the epidemiology and transmission dynamics of respiratory viruses on the Ecuadorian coast, underlining the importance of understanding spread patterns for preventive measures. Additionally, it discusses the importance of early and accurate detection of lung diseases, including SARS-CoV-2, leveraging rapid testing and evidence-based prevention. Collectively, the work advances Knowledge in clinical epidemiology, public health practice, and measurement standards for surveillance and diagnostics, contributing to evidence-based strategies for early diagnosis, intervention, and prevention of infectious diseases in diverse settings.
