Research Interests

Recent research:
The researcher conducts an integrative examination of environmental health and exposure risks in Latin America, combining observational insights on ultraviolet radiation monitoring, toxicology of persistent pollutants, and the ubiquity of microplastics in consumer foods. The work links geospatial surveillance (UV station distribution) with public health implications of environmental pollutants (dioxins, microplastics) and the governance needed to mitigate exposures. Across studies, the methodology spans data synthesis from monitoring networks and literature reviews to assess health and environmental impacts, emphasizing equitable surveillance, regulatory action, and preventive measures. The overarching contribution is to illuminate how environmental monitoring, toxicology, and material management intersect to protect population health and ecosystem well-being in the region.

Key Topics:
  • Healthcare, Clinical Epidemiology & Public Health
