Organization profile

Transportation is a fundamental activity within society, therefore it is of primary importance to establish optimal transportation systems for citizens.

Current studies and trends focus on increasing the performance of vehicles, designing them with less weight, conceiving “ultra-light vehicles.” In this same sense, intelligent controls are also incorporated that are capable of carrying out self-driving and automated parking searches, all of this included in a race to reduce the environmental footprint with the lowest possible cost.

With the aim of promoting research in the area of transportation engineering and based on the considerations raised, the Transportation Engineering Research Group “GIIT” has been created. Generating a positive impact on society, the group proposes carrying out research that develops and generates innovative knowledge in Transportation Engineering, with particular focus on the areas of engineering, industry and construction of the Automotive Mechanical Engineering Degree.

Research lines:

Transportation and Mobility
Maintenance Engineering Applied to Transportation
Automotive Mechanical Design
Energy Efficiency and Environmental Pollution

Coordinator:

Paul Hernan Narvaez Villa (pnarvaezv@ups.edu.ec)
