Perfil de la organización
El grupo de investigación "Nunkui Wakan", cuyo nombre en el idioma Shuar significa "Espíritu de la Tierra", se dedica a la bio prospección de recursos naturales en Ecuador, centrándose en la identificación de principios activos de plantas, evaluación de su toxicidad y conservación de semillas. Su misión es ampliar el conocimiento sobre el uso sostenible de la biodiversidad en beneficio del ser humano y la protección del ecosistema. La visión del grupo es convertirse en un referente en estudios ambientales y biotecnológicos, promoviendo un manejo racional de la biodiversidad ecuatoriana. Además, el grupo busca integrar el saber ancestral de las comunidades nativas en sus investigaciones, con el objetivo de desarrollar nuevas aplicaciones que mejoren la calidad de vida. Con la riqueza biológica que posee Ecuador, el grupo se compromete a seguir la tradición de conocimiento sobre el uso de recursos naturales, contribuyendo así a la sostenibilidad y bienestar social.
