El Grupo de Investigación Biotecnología Aplicada a los Recursos Naturales (BIOARN) tiene como misión fomentar la investigación mediante técnicas avanzadas como el aislamiento e identificación molecular, cultivo de tejidos in vitro y fitomejoramiento de especies en Ecuador. Su visión se centra en establecer un modelo profesional y ético que integre saberes ancestrales y la riqueza natural, promoviendo la participación activa de estudiantes y docentes en proyectos innovadores. Además, el grupo se compromete a revalorizar los recursos naturales a través de investigaciones biotecnológicas que abordan la mejora de cultivos, el descubrimiento de nuevos fármacos y la conservación del medio ambiente, buscando siempre un equilibrio armónico entre la ciencia y la naturaleza.
