Organization profile
The Educational Innovation Group on Food Security, Sovereignty, and Sustainability (GIE-SYSAS) is a multidisciplinary collective at UPS dedicated to integrating the principles of responsible agriculture into teaching, research, and community engagement. Its mission is to promote knowledge, skills, and innovation aimed at improving livelihoods and addressing challenges related to food security, nutrition, and sustainability. Its vision is to become a national leader in the application of these principles. Its activities encompass assessments, participatory systematization, innovative educational projects, training, development of guidelines and policies, thematic dissemination, improvements to academic processes, field practices focused on responsible agriculture, interdisciplinary integrative projects, evaluation using rubrics, faculty exchanges, and scientific dissemination. These activities draw on multiple areas of knowledge and prioritize principles related to food security, sustainable resource management, respect for cultural heritage, and the promotion of safe and healthy food systems.
