Organization profile

The action of the Communication Research Group (GIC 1), will be oriented to contribute to the development of a critical thought in Social Communication that allows to adjust to the new conceptual parameters to which the development of the NTIC and the democracies challenges us, which imply the respect to the diversities, the interculturality, as well as the participation of the citizenship.

And this participation is alluded to in the concept of "communicative citizenship", by Jesús Martín-Barbero, which synthesizes the role of communication in social and political participation. With these premises, we propose research as the basis for the academic exercise necessary for the development of knowledge that will allow the consolidation of the critical thinking demanded by Social Communication in the country and the region.
